Keeping Up With The Jones'

Title for my new book .. comments? I'm just going to start writing this. I think primarily it will be my life's story. I have no idea what I'm doing ~ just following a whim and perhaps a dream?

New to this...

Alright, I've decided to try my hand at 'blogging'. What a word huh? Every time I say it I think of an ugly word. So, we are the Davis family...hailing from Rocky Mount, NC and Columbia, NC. My husband and I bought a vacation 'spot' near Lake Gaston in May of 2008. We spent nearly every weekend of last summer here, so when an opportunity to move closer arrived; we took it! We now live only six miles from our Vacation Spot! How convenient is that?

Ben is an RN at the local hospital here. He doesn't talk much about work, but every now and again I get a great story. He has to explain why he comes home from work with diarrhea in his shoes! He loves his job and he's met so many great people.

I am currently working with a wonderful family in the Boat business. They have sold boats and made repairs for three generations. I enjoy working with this couple, and I am drawn to the closeness of their family. I must admit; when we first moved here, I wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea of working, but this has by far been the most amazing door God has opened for me and I am very thankful.

Hannah is 14 now. My baby has grown up to be the most beautiful young lady. I still have to spit shine her from time to time, but she does okay. Hannah is my best friend. I may not be hers but that will come in time. She is a straight A student at Park View High School (yes, I said High School) and has taken an interest in boys, one young man in particular. Dating and driving and parties and texting. She has wires connected to her at all times. She multitasks by texting, emailing, listening to music and studying.

Will is 10 and growing up very quickly. He's all boy. Rambunctious, moody, angry... he's the middle child with two sisters. I'd be angry too :) He's smart, funny and loving at times - even to the sisters that he stays so angry with. He and Ben try their skills at shooting and he seems to enjoy it. Will is a typical boy... loves his PSP. He loves trucks and cars and knows quite alot about them. He likes to read, but he hates to write and talk on the phone. His hair is long (like Ben's) and sometimes he hates to wash it. Ew.

Then there is princess Elle. It seems like yesterday I was holding her in my arms. I never put her down. Now, I can't pick her up! She enjoys aggravating the snot out of her brother and sister.. she wants so badly to do everything that they do. She is very into herself and her appearance. She will sing in the shower for an hour if I don't check on her, and sing rather loudly so we all can enjoy it. She stands in front of the refrigerator to look at herself in certain outfits, just to see how they flow and twirl. I think she was born to dance, but unfortunately she didn't get the dose of grace required to do that.

We are just plain folks. Happy and thankful for what we have. We aren't much involved with sports, boy scouts, gymnastics or ballet and we spend all of our time together. Maybe that isn't such a good idea .. I love my family and I'm very proud of my children and my husband.

Thomas is our oldest child. He is 21 years old and a Senior at NC State. He is majoring in Business Management and had the privilege of studying abroad in Australia last fall. He is a very (and I mean VERY) talented musician. He's witty and dashingly handsome. We don't get to see him as often as we should, but he's undoubtedly a part of our family. We're very proud of him and his accomplishments. He's currently studying to be an EMT. Look out Rocky Mount!
